For years I've been changing

Shifting and thrashing and--

Growing.

From a confused boy to an

Unapologetic genderqueer dyke

From taking on masculinity

Because it was forced upon me

To embracing it anew

Through a lens of queerness

I'm cute and soft and tough

I'm bi and aro and hot

I'm masc in a femme way

I'm femme in a masc way

I'm me in a me way.

I don't pass and I don't want to pass.

Gender is a demon and I'm gonna cut its head off

Gender is a cute cat and I'm gonna give it belly rubs.

Gender is boring and limiting and stifling

Gender is beautiful and expansive

Gender is fucking complicated

And this queer trans dyke wouldn't have it any other way
